Let's Take Walk: Plus-Size Style Remake

I came across the this look on the young woman below and was inspired to recreate it for the plus-size ladies out there. It's the same skirt that is in the picture on the young lady below. I got it from Target a while ago, but you can also find a similar here/target in pink, or you can get it at Retro Kitten for $16.00. The shirt is thrifted, but you can get similar pretty much anywhere being that  denim shirts are the trend.

To really complete the look you can try a variety of brown belts, available at stores like Guess, and for the stylista on a budget, forever 21. Unfortunately you can't see my shoes in the picture, but I choose to go with a nude shoe to accent the look, much like the young lady above. Here's a few place you can find some on a budget Forever 21 (photo below) and Fergalicious Platforms.

Inside Allie's World: Mad About Gok

Inside Allie's World: Mad About Gok: By now if you've read my blog, you know that I'm a huge advocate of shapewear to give you an optimal fit in your clothing. But...

Style and Stripes in DUMBO Brooklyn.

Hi there folks! First I'd like to say thank you so much for coming through and checking out my new style and culture blog.
These pictures I have here are from a photo shoot I did last week with the amazing couple Latoya & Eric Snell (check them out here.) in DUMBO Brooklyn. I have to let you know these photos are unedited, however I did ask before I published. You can always check out the edited ones and much more of their work via their website.

I think it's safe to say that the new trend this season is black & white, with a pop of color; which ever way you choose to add that color is up to you. I decided to do so with a hodge-podge of prints and accessories. Starting with this denim jacket I thrifted and I had a boatload of buttons I've collected from different people and places. I also cut the back vertically for my own personal touch of style. The top is from Lady Dr. Jay's, but you can find similar here. The leggings were from H&M plus. The belt is is stretchy belt I bought years ago from a street vendor, but you can find similar here/ forever21 and here/ torrid; it's up to you how you want to wear it, but I decided to turn the buckle of the belt to the back; don't be afraid to go against the grain with how you wear your clothes. Flip it and make it your own.

If you're looking to change up you look, try getting some fabric and making your own hair accessories. I always get asked by random people, "Where did you get you scarf?", it's really just some fabric from the local garment supply store. It's actually cheaper to buy a yard of fabric and cut a strip to make your own head scarf than it is to buy a head scarf, especially if you buy off of any street vendors in Union Square. Also, the earrings are from Lane Bryant's Lane Collection, you can find it on the sales rack for 1/4 the original price. Granted the one's I'm wearing are sold out, here/Lane Bryant has one similar. The necklace is an knock-off of this Versace Necklace. I got it at Dr. Jay's, but you can get similar here RealDivasAreLarge.com

First Post

So, I've spent almost two years styling people in retail, and even longer styling them in my personal life.

Plenty of people have recommended starting a serious blog about my personal style and making recommendations, so here it is. I'm dedicating this blog to style, food, and fun.

This blog is to encourage plus-size women, and women of all sizes to dress their body in a way that makes them happy. No one needs to hate what they look like, so stay toned for the diversity of beauty and food reviews of NYC.

Thanks and I hope you enjoy.
